Yoga originated from India. In the 20th century, hatha yoga became popular throughout the world as a form of physical exercise. The synchronization of breath with movement is essential to optimize benefits of yoga for health. Yoga can improve strength, balance and flexibility. Other benefits include relaxation, stress management, better sleep and more.
Daily practice of sun salutation can improve general health and wellbeing. It has been suggested to do 6 to 12 sets of sun salutation each morning. Other suggestions for yoga practice:
Gentle seated yoga for all levels 30 minutes
Yin Yoga complete class 60 minutes
Yoga for neck and shoulder release 15 minutes
Qigong
Qigong also known as Tai-chi is a health exercise practiced for centuries by Chinese people to improve general health and wellbeing. The aim of Qigong is to promote the movement of Qi (energy) in the body, stretching and twisting energy channels to remove blockages at meridian points. When the Qi does not flow smoothly in our body, it is generally a sign of health issues. A key point in Qigong practice is relaxation and deep breathing, both of which are prerequisites to smoothen the Qi flow.
